It was another beautiful weekend enjoying the fall foliage! Shane, Justyn, and I traveled to the family cottage in Tidioute, PA Friday evening. We love having access to the cottage in the late spring throughout the summer and fall. There is no insulation so it gets closed up for the winter. The past couple years we have coupled it for first day trout and believe me it is cold!!!
Saturday morning we ate breakfast at the Plaza Restaurant in Warren. Love this little town.
We hiked the Minister Creek Trail just south of Warren towards Sheffield which was 6.6 miles and took us about 3.5 hrs. The trail wasn't too difficult but the last 2 miles were a bit tough and steep. I highly recommend this trail!
It had a variety of landscapes including a creek crossing and walking through tall ledges/rocks.
The fall foliage is definitely at peak up here this wkd. If you decide to do this trail just be prepared for a longer hike but nothing too difficult. There are several camping areas along the trail and there is a campground at the trailhead as well.
After our hike we stopped at Bent Run brewery for lunch. This was our second time here. We visited Jake's Rocks to check out the overlook and campsites and also the Rimrock overlook. The views are so pretty this time of year.
We went back into Warren after to grab a beer from Wicked Warren's. I actually got a crowler of their pickle beer to bring home. We headed back to our cottage for the evening and made a nice comfy fire in the living room.
Sunday morning we packed up the cottage and traveled to Kane where we got lunch at Mad dog 159. We were hoping to get a breakfast hot dog but breakfast had ended already. However the chicken 🐔 sandwich was excellent! Highly recommend stopping here.
After lunch we hiked around Kinzua State Park. We did the full trail instead of just the overlook which I would recommend doing to see the full tornado destruction of the bridge. The weather was perfect both days.
The leaves already peaked at Kinzua so if you plan on taking a trip in that direction just know it's typical for the fall foliage to peak a week or so ahead.
Since it was Sunday we stopped to watch the rest of the Steelers game which they pulled out the win against the Tampa Bay buccaneers and Tom Brady! Woohoo. Extra cheers today and happy hiking!
