The 52 hike challenge was accomplished again by us this year (2nd time we have done it) ! 💯🏆 I wasn't planning on counting this as our last hike for the challenge, but then I realized the story needed to be told. It could also be our last "hike" for a bit because I am anticipating i will need surgery....Always be careful out there!

Panama Rocks in New York sure did seem like a fun little easy trail, until I jumped off a rock and landed wrong. The pop sound that came from my knee I knew wasn't good, and the result of almost passing out and not being able to bear weight was additional bad signs.

Here is a picture of me standing on that rock. I will probably never make a dumb trail decision ever again. The better story Is that I jumped and landed on a bear 🐻. 🤣

So here we are, two weeks later, and I now have an MRI that says I have torn my ACL and have a grade 2 MCL sprain.

Weekend recap: We drove up to New York Saturday afternoon the weekend before Halloween and hiked an easy trail along Lake Chautauqua.

I found this area to be so cute and pretty. Our air bnb was right on the inlet. We ate dinner at a fancier place and got yummy steaks.

Sunday morning we ate breakfast with Shane's parents and then headed over to the Panama Rocks fall foliage festival. Breakfast was not complete without finding me a bloody mary !

The Panama Rocks trail is on private property (you pay to get in) and you are free to explore after that. There are a lot of roots and Rocks so the terrain is not the safest for those that are not very stable on their feet. It's just over a mile long.

About halfway into the trail is when I made my bad decision which turned to me being carried out on a stretcher.

The trail was really pretty and the large rocks and ledges meant lots of exploring in between. There were lots of people here!

I will have a long recovery ahead, but my motivation to get back on the trail is extremely high, and also I managed to snag a reservation to one of the most beautiful parks here in the USA that's hard to get for July. Fingers crossed all goes well, and that I can get back onto my feet real soon. Crutches are not fun ! And not being able to do a lot of things on my own, is stressful. It really makes you think to be thankful for what you have. Shane has been my rock in helping me get around the house easier.
Cheers and happy hiking !
