Weekend adventure in WV!

Another last minute weekend trip was planned, this time to the Davis, WV area. We had been here years ago and this trip was great. Our air bnb was the cutest, here Is the link to it: https://abnb.me/2qZyhodvqtb

Loved the big window and the hot tub was super relaxing. There are hiking trails from the back yard! Really nice community and area.

We hiked to Chimney Tops on Saturday (took about 4 hrs). The first mile and some was all uphill and my Garmin watch clocked 1100 ft in elevation gain. It was a good spot for lunch packed to eat on the trail.

There was another area on the trail where it was steep but it was a short section that could have been avoided.

The views were fantastic and we had great weather.

We got some great shots of turkey vultures hanging out on the rocks.

This was definitely a difficult trail, more on the hard side of moderate for sure.

We stopped at Seneca Rocks to take a few pictures. Shane and I hiked the rocks a couple years ago!

After our hike we returned to our air bnb, got cleaned up, and went to dinner at Hellbender Burritos. One of my favorite spots. We got some brews across the street at Stumptown Ales. We had been to both of these establishments before and they did not disappoint once again!

On Sunday we checked out of our air bnb and got brunch at Farm to Table in Thomas. The food was really good but there was a bit of a wait and with only one waitress I recommend bringing your patience 😉 Thomas and Davis are cute towns with eateries and little shops.

After brunch we did an easy hike at Blackwater Falls State Park since we were sore from yesterday!

There are a variety of trails at Blackwater Falls so depending on your skill level there are options for you!

We decided to also check out Bear Rocks Preserve at Dolly Sods Wilderness Area which was not a convenient drive from the Davis area (bridge is out further south which would make the trip shorter).

This is a neat area to backpack and do longer hikes. We kept it easy and just checked out the rocks since we had a 3 hour ride home.

Overall a wild and wonderful West Virginia trip! I always recommend this area and just the state In general for hiking adventures.

Cheers!
